Basic DBS Check

A basic DBS check is the lowest level of a criminal record check and is available to people working in England and Wales.

You can apply for a basic DBS check for yourself or for someone else.
A basic check will contain details of convictions and conditional cautions considered to be ‘unspent’ under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Under the Act, eligible convictions or cautions become ‘spent’ after a specified period of time known as the ‘rehabilitation period’.

To apply for a basic DBS you will need:
– National Insurance number
– Passport
– Driving licence
– Addresses for the last 5 years and the dates lived there

Once the order is placed, we will contact you (if you are applying for yourself) or the candidate (if you are applying for someone else) to gather all the required documentation.

Once we receive the criminal check we will contact you with results. This usually takes a few days but in rare circumstances it can take up to two weeks.
